Fontcuberta precisely strives to explore the state of incertitude and indecision between true and false. All his images appear to be true. And for good reason; he has become a master in the art of make-up, travesty and performance. The aim of the manoeuvre is not, of course, to fool the observer. A sufficient number of clues are there so that we can be aware of the trick and finally come to question ourselves on the very relativity of the photographic truth.
