Accidental Sculptures
Polaroids 2000-2011
Objects which may have been arranged to convey meaning, but which could equally represent only chance configurations.
Perhaps these photographs record a human truth, or perhaps they're a false start: records of randomness, everyday details signifying nothing much.
Black Dog
A series of beautiful mistakes in which a couple struggle to photograph their black dog. But instead of capturing a "true," accurate portrait, they film only a vaguely dog-shaped blob.
However, their persistence results in a document that says more about their relationship with this pooch than the "perfect" pet image ever could.
Fake Horses
A testament to a once common practice in amateur photography: parents snapping their kids on model horses. Sometimes these fake horses are easy to spot, sometimes their likeness is eerily realistic. However, what's really striking is that the woodiness goes beyond our ponies. The children's apparent merriment is also more than a little unconvincing.
